I am so proud to announce that as of January 1, 2026, Happy Brain Speech is a private-pay clinic!

As a clinician and a small-business owner, I have decided to move away from insurance as of January 1, 2026. Contracting with insurance companies was getting in the way of what matters most to me as a healthcare provider, which is supporting our clients with consistent, cutting-edge and evidence-based care.

 

Too often, insurance created confusion, long waits, and unnecessary stress for families who were already doing their best to find help. By moving to a private-pay model, we can keep things simple. You don’t have to wait for approvals or chase down referrals — we can just focus on you or your child, set goals together, and get started. TLDR: Insurance was stressful for our clients. 

 

Therapy feels calmer this way, and progress tends to come more naturally when there’s less red tape in the background impacting treatment approaches and service delivery, including scheduling. As a developmental specialist, I get to use my 7 years of higher education and robust experience to make the very best, most evidence-based and most doable recommendations for care. I'm so excited to practice at the very top of my license.

30-min session: $95

Initial evaluation (60-min): $300

Specialist evaluation (90-min): $450​

🌈 Why We’re Switching to Private Pay

Starting January 2026, Happy Brain Speech & Language Therapy will move to a private-pay (cash-pay) model. This change allows us to spend less time on insurance paperwork and more time doing what we love — helping you or your child communicate with confidence.

💬 Why the switch?

Working with insurance often meant weeks (or months!) of delays, confusing pre-authorization steps, and unpredictable coverage decisions. Even when families followed our detailed instructions, most insurers required primary-care referrals and pre-approvals that slowed down or completely blocked services — especially for ADHD, dyslexia, or fluency therapy.

Insurance companies also denied many claims for “non-medical” reasons or paid the wrong amount after long waits. That system didn’t reflect our values or meet our clients’ needs.

• Start therapy right away — no waiting for authorizations or referrals

• Offer flexible scheduling and truly individualized plans

• Provide all services, including ADHD and dyslexia support, without restrictions

• Give transparent, simple pricing (no surprise bills!)

• Provide superbills if you’d like to request out-of-network reimbursement
